Viola in a lecture-demonstration of James J. Kaufmann’s unamplified R&B settings of poems by Calvin Forbes, at SUNY Brockport — an ensemble of two voices, piano, drums, bass, viola, horn, and alto saxophone. The project returned to Brockport that fall as The Shinesongs, with performances at the Brockport Writers Forum and at Eastman’s Howard Hanson Hall (September 26–27, 2003).
